Auburn flips 4-star quarterback Deuce Knight from Notre Dame

Auburn has been the hottest team on the recruiting trail over the last few months. That hot streak continued on Wednesday.

The Tigers landed their quarterback of the future flipping former Notre Dame commitment and Lucedale (Miss.) George County signal-caller Deuce Knight away from the Fighting Irish. Knight had been committed to Notre Dame since last September.

Standing in at 6-foot-4.5 and just over 200 pounds, 247Sports ranks Knight as the No. 34 player in the 2025 class. He ranks as the No. 5 quarterback in the cycle and No. 2 player out of Tennessee.

Knight broke onto the scene as a sophomore completing 61.7% of his passes for 1,929 yards and 11 touchdowns with only four interceptions. A true dual-threat, he also rushed for 488 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Last season Knight transferred to Nashville and played at Lipscomb Academy for three games before returning to George County midway through the season. In total he completed 53.2% of his passes for 2,047 yards and 17 touchdowns while also rushing for 494 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Knight is also a track standout at George County. He’s a two-time state champion in the long jump winning the Mississippi 5A meet each of the last two years.

Hugh Freeze building a monster 2025 class

Knight’s decision all but solidified a top five 2025 class for Freeze and the Tigers this cycle.

The summer months were extremely kind for Auburn. Entering June the Tigers only had six pledges in their 2025 class. Over the next three months that number skyrocketed to 23.

With Knight added, the Tigers have five commitments ranked in the top 70 nationally. They also have 10 commitments ranked in the top 100.
