Seven prep football games to watch in Week 8 of the Savannah area’s 2024 season

The aftermath of Hurricane Helene has caused the postponement of nine more games set for Friday, Oct. 4, in the Greater Savannah area.

But the season will carry on with seven squads ready to take the field in Week 8 of the high school football season in Georgia.

Here’s a look at what to expect in those matchups.

Benedictine (2-2, 0-0) at Warner Robins (5-0, 1-0 in Region 1-4A) *

Benedictine, ranked No. 3 among Class 4A teams by the AJC, starts its rugged Region 1-4A schedule with a long trek to McConnell-Talbert Stadium in Warner Robins to take on the Demons, who are ranked No. 6..

BC had its region opener at Ware County postponed by the storm last week. The Cadets have won two in a row after losses to nationally ranked squads in Rabun Gap and Buford in their first two games.

Quarterback Stephen Cannon has been excellent in his first year as a starter as the junior has thrown for 629 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions, while also rushing for 88 yards and a pair of scores. His favorite target has been junior Bubba Frazier, who has 16 catches for 203 yards and two scores. Joshua Washington is also a weapon in the pass game with nine catches for 174 yards and a pair of scores.

Edge Third Scroggins, a senior who has committed to Miami, and junior defensive tackle Kam Cody, who has a number of Power 4 offers, leads the defense alongside defensive back Micah Williams. Auburn commit Jacobe Ward, a senior, anchors the offensive line.
