Giants Injury Notes: Malik Nabers making progress, but Week 5 in doubt; secondary could get reinforcements

Here are the latest Giants injury updates as they prepare for their Week 5 matchup against the Seahawks in Seattle…

Malik Nabers remains in concussion protocol

Nabers suffered a concussion during the fourth quarter of last Thursday’s loss to the Cowboys, but seemed to be in a somewhat decent spot to return for Week 5 given the long layoff.

However, while Nabers is “making progress,” per head coach Brian Daboll, he has not yet returned to practice.

That doesn’t mean Nabers won’t be available against Seattle on Sunday, but there is just one day left of practice — with Nabers not having done any football activity since leaving Thursday’s game.

If Nabers is unavailable against the Seahawks, it’s likely that Jalin Hyatt will see his workload increase.

Hyatt has just three targets (and zero receptions) this season.

Devin Singletary is working through a groin issue

Singletary wasn’t practicing on Wednesday, and was working on the side on Thursday.

Daboll noted on Wednesday that he didn’t believe that Singletary’s groin injury would be a long-term issue.

Dru Phillips and Adoree’ Jackson returned to practice

The Giants’ secondary has been shorthanded, but help could be on the way.

Phillips, who played in the Giants’ first three games and had a terrific showing in Week 2 against the Commanders — with 12 total tackles, including seven solo — returned to practice on Thursday after being out due to a calf injury.

Jackson (calf), who signed late during training camp and was active for the first three games of the season, also returned on Thursday.
