SEC names Texas A&M’s Tyler White Co-Special Teams Player of the Week

The Texas A&M special teams’ units have been mixed in the first five games. However, true freshman punter Tyler White stood out.

White has the power to flip the field with any kick and enough touch to drop the ball inside of the 20-yard line. It can be argued that he is one of the best punters in the country, and with the Aggies struggling to establish any form of consistency, he puts the defense in the best positions possible to keep games close.

The SEC recognized the freshman’s production after the big week by naming him SEC Player of the Week. Below is the excerpt from the release from the conference officials:

Tyler White punted nine times on the day and averaged 43.1 yards per punt, with seven of those kicks downed inside the 20-yard line and five at the 10-yard line or closer. His efforts helped keep the Arkansas offense deep in their own territory. White’s longest punt of the game was 58 yards, contributing to a key field position advantage for Texas A&M.
