Thursday, Oct. 3

St. Joseph Academy 47, Buena 9: Anthony Scalamone figured in four touchdowns to lead St. Joe’s to its first win since the 2022 playoffs, breaking a 16-game winless streak. The Wildcats quarterback threw three touchdowns and ran for another in the win.

Keaton Doyle had two of the TD catches from Salamone (9-for-16, 157 yards). Doyle also added an interception return touchdown. Cole Brubaker had a pair of TD catches, 25 yards from Salamone and 80 yards from O’Ryan Artis.

Hanif Hernandez keyed the St. Joe ground attack with two touchdowns on 19 carries and 150 yards.

Buena got a pair of TD runs by Troy Gregory (three yards and seven yards) and a 27-yard field goal by Zack Mick. Both teams are 1-5 for the season.

Woodbury 35, Gateway 6: Tim Holmes ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the long-time Thanksgiving Day rivals met during the heart of the season. Holmes connected with Marquis Taylor from nine yards away to open the scoring in the first quarter.

Taylor added a 65-yard interception return touchdown return to stake the Herd (2-3 record) to a 15-0 lead in the second quarter. Holmes added one-yard and two-yard TD runs to turn a nine-point halftime lead into a comfortable margin. Kadeem Woods tacked on a six-yard run in the fourth.

Jacob Finger caught a 15-yard fade from Gianni Pembroke in the right corner of the end zone to get the Gators (2-4) on the scoreboard before halftime.
