Michigan State football vs. Oregon score today: Live updates, highlights from Week 6 game

Just six days after an extremely tough test against No. 3 Ohio State, Michigan State football has no time to catch its breath as the Spartans returns to the gridiron to face No. 6 Oregon on the road.

The Spartans are feeling the full wrath of the new Big Ten, taking on two likely playoff teams in a matter of just a few days. But there are no excuses in college football, and Jonathan Smith will be out to try and help his squad bounce back against a team he knows very well.

Smith, who’s in his first year at Michigan State, faced the Ducks all six seasons that he was the head coach at rival Oregon State, and also was the starting quarterback for the Beavers in his playing days, so Autzen Stadium is a place he knows very well. Smith was 2-4 against the Ducks as the Beavers’ head coach, with both wins coming at home.

In addition to the familiarity that Smith and his staff has with the Ducks, another thing the Spartans have working for them is some key players returning to the lineup. Wide receiver Jaron Glover looked good in his return against the Buckeyes after missing two games and should be ready to roll against the Ducks, while breakout freshman receiver Nick Marsh is no longer listed on the injury report and should be a bigger factor after playing just sporadically against OSU.

Left tackle Stanton Ramil will also be back in the lineup for the Spartans, while on the defensive side of the ball, the Spartans avoided long-term injuries with defensive tackle Maverick Hansen, safety Malik Spencer and nickelback Angelo Grose, all who got hurt against the Buckeyes.

Just like last week, the Spartans are a big underdog against the Ducks, with oddsmakers listing Oregon as a 23½-point favorite.
