Tennessee football rankings: How far will Vols fall in top 25 after Arkansas loss?

Ranked teams were snakebitten on the road in Week 6 of the college football season — something No. 4 Tennessee found out the hard way.

Josh Heupel and the Vols lost their first game of the season, dropping a 19-14 game to unranked Arkansas at Razorback Stadium. With that, the Vols fall to 4-1 and 1-1 in SEC play, whereas the Razorbacks improve to 4-2 and 2-1, respectively.

It appeared from the outset of Saturday’s game that Tennessee would be in for a tough matchup, with Arkansas holding the Vols scoreless as they headed into the locker room with a 3-0 halftime lead. Tennessee was able to outscore the Hogs 14-7 in the third quarter, but couldn’t muster any points as Arkansas scored nine unanswered points in the fourth quarter.

Tennessee had a chance for a walk-off touchdown from the Arkansas 20-yard line, but Nico Iamaleava lost track of the clock on the game’s final play, running out of bounds to end the game with zeroes on the clock.

The most immediate question facing Heupel and the Vols is what it will mean in the next set of college football top 25 rankings. Here’s a look at where Tennessee might fall after Saturday’s upset:
