Upsets create major shakeup in US LBM Coaches poll

They all said Week 6 of the college football season presented a weak slate and that we should all pay attention to the following week.

But that’s why they play the games.

Both Alabama and Tennessee, formerly Top 5 teams, fell to previously unranked teams in Vanderbilt and Arkansas, respectively. What has resulted is a major shakeup up top of the US LBM Coaches poll.

Texas, thanks to a bye, is still No. 1. But now it sets up a huge game that happens to be in Autzen Stadium as No. 2 Ohio State goes to No. 3 Oregon. It might be the biggest game in the history of the stadium and this contest was circled on the calendar even before the season began.

Alabama fell down five spots to No. 7 and Tennessee saw the same drop, five spots, down to No. 9.

Those weren’t the only upsets, however. USC went on the road and laid an egg and lost to Minnesota and dropped completely out of the poll. Michigan also saw a huge drop this week as the Wolverines saw a freefall of 11 spots down to No. 21.

Here’s the complete poll.
