Oct. 6—OLIVIA — Fifth-year star Hudson Vosika continues to add career milestones to his arsenal.
The senior running back eclipsed 5,000 career rushing yards in the BOLD football team’s 71-6 victory against Yellow Medicine East in the Southwest North District game on Saturday.
The Warriors, ranked No. 6 in Class A, are 5-1 and YME is 0-6.
Vosika rushed for 334 yards and punched in four touchdowns on 15 carries for an average of 22.3 yards per attempt. His touchdown runs went for 35, 57, 54 and 77 yards. Three of Vosika’s four scores came in the first half, leading BOLD to a 50-0 lead at the break.
Coming into the game, Vosika needed 242 yards to reach 5,000 career rushing yards, according to MaxPreps.
Brady Kiecker and Kaden Fischer also had touchdown runs in the first half. Kiecker’s 5-yard score opened up the scoring and Fischer’s went for 31 yards. Both are senior running backs.
Colton Baumgartner threw a pair of touchdowns in the first half. The freshman quarterback connected with Owen Baumgartner for 51 yards and Will Penkert for 23 yards.
Outside of Vosika’s fourth touchdown run, Marcus Benson piled on two more scores on the ground with runs of 1 and 67 yards in the fourth.
The Warriors totaled 553 yards and eight touchdowns on 36 carries. Colton Baumgartner finished 8 of 11 for 151 yards with two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions.
YME’s touchdown came in the third. Jacob Peterson rushed for an 18-yard touchdown. He had both of the Sting’s interceptions.
BOLD hosts Lakeview at 7 p.m. Friday at Olivia. YME hosts Canby at 7 p.m. Friday at Granite Falls.
