Here is Kansas State football’s ranking in the US LBM Coaches Poll after an open week

MANHATTAN — Kansas State football sat idly by with an open date this week while a number of higher-ranked teams took it on the chin.

But when it all shook out Sunday in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, the Wildcats advanced just one spot to No. 19. At 4-1, 1-1 in the Big 12, they return to action next Saturday when they travel to Boulder to take on Colorado (4-1, 2-0) in a 9:15 p.m. central game at Folsom Field.

With most of the upset losses taking place near the top of the rankings, only Michigan and USC dropped far enough to advance K-State, which also was leapfrogged by new No. 14 Texas A&M. The Wildcats made a bigger jump last week by knocking off Oklahoma State, 42-20, in Manhattan.

Colorado, which also was idle after pounding Central Florida last week, 48-21, on the road, advanced among to others receiving votes to No. 30 in the latest poll.

The Big 12 still has four teams in the Top 25, led by unbeatens Iowa State (5-0, 2-0) at No. 13 and Brigham Young (5-0, 2-0) at No. 15, followed by Utah (4-1, 1-1) at No. 17 and K-State at No. 19. Joining Colorado among those receiving votes are Arizona (3-2, 1-1) and Texas Tech (5-1), which sits atop the league standings at 3-0.
