A look at how UND football’s 2023 transfers are performing in 2024

Oct. 8—GRAND FORKS — The UND football team, off to a 4-2 start and ranked No. 9 in the latest FCS Top 25, is a new-look group in 2024 partly due to a string of transfers in the offseason.

Here’s a rundown of how some of the top transfers from UND’s 2023 team are performing in a new spot in 2024:

Tommy Schuster, Michigan State: Schuster, who was a four-plus year starter in Grand Forks and opted to use his final season of eligibility in East Lansing, has been the backup quarterback to Aidan Chiles, who is averaging 202 yards per game with five touchdowns to eight interceptions. Schuster has played in three games in mop-up duty, throwing 16-for-21 for 166 yards. He has minus-7 yards rushing on the year but scored a rushing touchdown on Sept. 14 against Prairie View. He also saw action against Ohio State and Oregon.

Jack Wright, Tulsa: The 6-foot wide receiver returned to his hometown school for one final season after catching 54 balls for 599 yards and three touchdowns in his Fighting Hawks career. For 2-4 Tulsa, Wright has one catch for 18 yards and a touchdown in six games played. His touchdown came in the fourth quarter of a blowout loss to North Texas.

Easton Kilty, Kansas State: The four-year regular on the offensive line for UND has been Kansas State’s starting left tackle. The Wildcats are ranked No. 18 in the country after a big win over Oklahoma State last weekend and feature the No. 7-ranked rushing attack in the FBS.

Sam Hagen, South Dakota State: After starting the first three games of the season, the former UND offensive lineman from Fordville, N.D., has missed the last two weeks. He appears to be out with an injury as it was reported he wasn’t dressed for last Saturday’s home game against Northern Iowa.

Cade Borud, Iowa: UND’s 2023 starting center transferred to his home state Hawkeyes with three seasons…
