OU football vs. Texas predictions: Who wins Week 7 college football game?

No. 16-ranked Oklahoma football will continue SEC play with a Red River Rivalry game against No. 1 Texas at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Dallas.

Both teams are fresh off a bye week. OU (4-1, 1-1 SEC) earned a 27-21 road win over Auburn in Week 5, while Texas (5-0, 1-0 SEC) earned a 35-13 home win over Mississippi State. The Longhorns are 14.5-point favorites over the Sooners, according to BetMGM Sportsbook.

Justin Martinez writes: “Both teams boast strong defenses, but Texas is far more reliable than OU on offense. Whether it’s Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning at quarterback, the Longhorns have consistently found ways to score at an average 45 points per game. And while OU seems to have found its quarterback in Michael Hawkins Jr., injuries at wide receiver and a non-existent run game will prevent it from keeping up on the scoreboard.”

Will Helms writes: “The Sooners will do everything they can to make this game ugly. They’ll slow the tempo, lean on the run (both from the running backs and new starting quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr., who has the mobility to cause issues), and try to create turnovers. Then again, this game tends to lean into unpredictability. Factoring that in, I think Texas wins. But it won’t be pretty, and it won’t cover.”
