SOUTH BEND — In the wake of Hurricane Milton’s direct hit on the Tampa Bay area, Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman said Thursday he’s been in “constant contact” with current players affected by the situation.
Freshman defensive tackle Sean Sevillano Jr. is a product of Clearwater (Fla.) and Clearwater Academy International. Walk-on junior linebacker Tre Reader played at Tampa’s Berkeley Prep, where 2025 pledge Dallas Golden, a four-star cornerback, is starring.
“We’ve been in contact with Tre and Sean and a couple other guys that have family members down there,” Freeman said Thursday on his weekly Zoom update with reporters. “This situation is like anything with leadership. You have to be what your players need you to be at that time.”
Notre Dame, ranked 12th in the US LBM Coaches Poll, plays unranked Stanford on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Stadium.
Four-star running back Justin Thurman, also committed to Notre Dame in the Class of 2025, is a senior at Tampa’s Jesuit High School. Quarterback Noah Grubbs, a 2026 pledge, is a junior at Lake Mary (Fla.) High School near Orlando.

In addition, wideouts Kris Mitchell (Jacksonville) and Jordan Faison (Fort Lauderdale) grew up on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, where 2026 two-sport pledge Dylan Faison (Jordan’s brother) and three-star defensive line commitment Davion Dixon (Miami Palmetto High School) live.
