STILLWATER — After six games, Oklahoma State’s first bye week of the season is here.
Let’s call it the mid-term break.
And with that, let’s hand out some mid-term grades.
This probably goes without saying, but mom won’t be hanging this report card on the fridge.
The Cowboys are 3-3 overall and 0-3 in Big 12 play. They had climbed into the top 20 during non-conference action, but have since plummeted from fringe College Football Playoff contender to the “will they even make a bowl game” classification.
In 20 seasons under head coach Mike Gundy, the Cowboys have lost three consecutive regular-season games just twice before — in Gundy’s first season of 2005, and again in 2014.
So this is uncommon territory for a program that still ranks in the top 10 in Division I football for the most victories since 2010.

Starter Alan Bowman has been benched twice in the last three games, Garret Rangel was up and down as a replacement and Gundy has not yet committed to a starter for the BYU game, set for 9:15 p.m. Oct. 18 in Provo, Utah.
Grading Bowman’s entire season is tricky, mostly because of recency bias. His first three games were spectacular, completing 67.0% of his passes for 967 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions. But where did that guy go?
