Cincinnati Bearcats move forward to play UCF after Hurricane Milton passes through Florida

The University of Cincinnati Bearcats’ Saturday game at UCF in Orlando, Fla. appeared to be on track to be played as of Thursday evening.

Though Hurricane Milton ripped off the top of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando appears to be intact as the University of Central Florida (UCF) reopened Thursday.

Rain chances through Saturday in Orlando is 15% or less according to the Weather Channel with intervals of clouds and sunshine Saturday and a high temperature of 84 degrees.

UCF reopening would seem to be good news for the Cincinnati Bearcats and UCF playing their Big 12 game Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

Around the area, Stetson canceled its game with Valparaiso on Tuesday. USF and Memphis were moved from Friday to Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium, which was flooded by Milton but apparently suffered only has cosmetic damage according to reports. There’s not been a definitive determination on that game.

UC was going ahead with plans to practice on Friday and then leave for Orlando, according to Zach Stipe, Associate AD/Communications.

The last time the Cincinnati Bearcats played at UCF, they had a difficult time stopping running back R.J. Harvey. UC last won in Orlando in 2020.

Latest Cincinnati Bearcats vs. UCF Knights game update

Orlando Sentinel UCF writer Matt Murschel reported Friday that the ESPN2 TV crew was also heading in on Friday. An official decision has not been made but indications point to the game being played. UC does have another bye on its schedule Nov. 2, but UCF does not. The Big 12 Championship Game is set for Dec. 7 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, so there’s no time in between to play a makeup contest.
