The Killingly football team relishes getting on their buses and traveling to another part of the state. It gives folks who have never ventured into the Quiet Corner an up close look at a team that has been one of the top football programs in the state for almost a decade now.
In 2018, Killingly made the trip to football rich Fairfield County and defeated Trinity Catholic. There were road victories over Cumberland (R.I.) and Brookfield in 2019. And who could forget the 67-0 rout at Branford in 2022?

“We love going on the road and showing what we’re about,” Killingly coach Chad Neal said. “I think that’s important. We want to show our brand.”
Killingly’s “brand” was on full display during a 48-13 victory over Guilford on Thursday night at Guilford High School’s Kavanaugh Field.
There was junior running back Hayden Allard scoring three “run people over” touchdowns behind an offensive line that keeps getting better each week. There was junior quarterback Quinn Sumner tossing three touchdown passes, including one for 50 yards to Aiden LaMotte. There was the speedy, physical defense, led by senior linebacker Anthony Oates, making life miserable for the Grizzlies attack. There was a terrific blocked punt by junior Trevor Galarza that set up another Killingly touchdown right before halftime. And there was a 47-yard run from senior Everton Brown, who capped Killingly’s big night with a short touchdown plunge in the fourth quarter.
