UWF football hosts Delta State on Saturday, looking to avenge 2023 loss in playoffs

After posting its first shutout in five years, the University of West Florida football team has to quickly turn its sights to another strong Gulf South Conference opponent.

The Argos, who allowed just 7 yards of total offense against Mississippi College, now have to face a top-25 team in the Statesmen, another “historically good” team, UWF head coach Kaleb Nobles said, on Saturday at 4 p.m. at PenAir Field.

“Our guys did a good job of responding well and playing well. I’m excited for them. We celebrated a little bit on Sunday,” Nobles said of the win. “We made sure they saw the good things and the bad things. We still have some things to clean up, but it’s a little bit easier and more fun to do that after a win than a loss.”

The total 7 yards allowed is the second fewest in GSC history, only behind negative-9 yards when North…
