Running back Tawee Walker’s huge day powers Wisconsin to second consecutive dominating victory

PISCATAWAY, NEW JERSEY – The Wisconsin football team carried its show on the road Saturday.

The Badgers, who scored a dominant win over Purdue last weekend at home, posted a 42-7 victory over Rutgers in front of 50,111 at SHI Stadium for their second straight victory.

It was UW’s first road win of the season and first since closing the 2023 Big Ten season with a win at Minnesota. It was also the Badgers best win to date. On this same field two weeks ago, Rutgers upset Washington.

Wisconsin (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) avoided that outcome by holding the Scarlet Knights (4-2, 1-2) to 269 total yards and keeping them scoreless until the fourth quarter.

The Badgers, meanwhile, cracked 500 total yards for the second straight week with 545 total yards and got a career day from Tawee Walker (24 carries, 198 yards, three touchdowns). Quarterback Braedyn Locke had one touchdown and one interception and finished with 240 passing yards and completed 20 of his 28 throws.

Rutgers’ Kyle Monangai, the Big Ten’s second-leading rusher, finished with 72 yards in 19 carries, a 3.8-yard average. He entered play averaging 133.4 yards per game and 5.8 yards per carry.
