UWF football makes statement with big win over conference rival Delta State

Talk about a much-needed statement win.

The University of West Florida football team defended home field in a big way on Saturday, topping nationally-ranked Delta State, 40-28, at PenAir Field to not only return to a winning record overall, but to make things interesting as far as the Gulf South Conference goes.

Minutes later, it was Stokes and Scott again with 5:46 left on a 26-yard pass to seal the game.

“(Scott’s) a pretty good player,” Stokes said with a little grin.

“They showed me – and confirmed to me – what they have in their…
