On Saturday afternoon, the Texas Longhorns returned from their bye week with an impressive win over Oklahoma. In their toughest matchup of the season, Texas was firing on all cylinders offensively and dominating on defense. The Longhorns did not disappoint in the latest installment of the Red River Rivalry.

After missing two and a half games, Quinn Ewers was back under center and picked up where he had left off. The Longhorns quarterback completed 68 percent of his passes and found the end zone once. He got some help on the ground as the Longhorns finished with 177 rushing yards on 30 attempts.

Although Oklahoma took an early 3-0 lead, their momentum evaporated in the second quarter when the Longhorns scored 21 points. The Sooners could not get back into the game, as the offense struggled, and they were shut out in the final three quarters.

With their second conference win of the season under their belts, the Longhorns will shift their focus to No.5 Georgia, whom they face on Saturday. As the Longhorns look to build on their success, there are five big takeaways from their latest win.

Defense continues to dominate

On an afternoon when the Longhorns offense recorded 406 total yards, the defense continued to dominate. In the latest Red River Rivalry game, Texas held Oklahoma to 237 yards and forced two turnovers. They also recorded five sacks and did not allow a touchdown. For the fourth time this season, Texas held an opponent to less than 10 points.
