Iowa still among receiving votes category in latest US LBM Coaches Poll entering Week 8

Iowa rode another big day from junior running back Kaleb Johnson and some timely defensive plays en route to a 40-16 win over Washington.

Johnson rushed 21 times for 166 yards with a pair of touchdowns and the 6-foot, 225 pound back also caught an 18-yard touchdown.

Graduate cornerback Jermari Harris had a big interception, junior defensive lineman Max Llewellyn recovered a fumble and the Hawkeyes came up with three turnover on downs in the win.

Iowa (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) now will hit the road to Michigan State (3-3, 1-2 Big Ten) this coming Saturday.

The Hawkeyes are once again in the receiving votes section of the latest US LBM Coaches Poll after the bounce back victory. Iowa received 12 points this week, which is up from the pair of points it received last week.

Like the week before, the new top five features a trio of Big Ten squads. After Oregon’s thrilling 32-31 win over Ohio State in Eugene, there’s been some shuffling, though.

Texas is still No. 1 after dismantling Oklahoma in a 34-3 Red River Rivalry blowout of the Sooners. Then, Oregon is No. 2, Penn State is No. 3 after a comeback overtime victory over USC, Georgia is No. 4 and Ohio State drops to No. 5.

Four other Big Ten teams make their way into the newest rankings. Indiana is ranked No. 18, Illinois No. 21, Michigan No. 22 and Nebraska at No. 25.

Here’s the full US LBM Coaches Poll as the season moves to Week 8.
