OXFORD − There is a new vacancy on the Ole Miss football roster.
Senior safety Key Lawrence is no longer on the team, a school official confirmed to the Clarion Ledger.
Lawrence is not listed on the active roster. He was listed on the two-deep Ole Miss roster distributed at LSU last Saturday.
Lawrence transferred to Ole Miss this season after playing one year at Tennessee and three seasons for Oklahoma. Lawrence played mostly on special teams for Ole Miss and recorded just one tackle; in a game against Georgia Southern. He did not play in the LSU game.
Lawrence recorded at least 40 tackles in each of his past three seasons at Oklahoma and emerged as a playmaker for the Sooners. Lawrence was the No. 1-ranked player in Tennessee as a senior at Ensworth School in Nashville in the Class of 2020.
The No. 15 Rebels (5-2, 1-2 SEC) will have a bye week before hosting Oklahoma, Lawrence’s old team, on Oct. 26 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
