Week 7 high school football top performers

Week 7 of the high school football season saw some strong performances by area teams and players.

Who had the best performance? Vote for the top athlete of the week. Voting will be open all week online.

Here is a little more about each candidate:

Tailen Luna, Holland

Senior wide receiver scored three times as Holland topped Comstock Park to earn its third victory of the season.

Brandon Holman, Zeeland West

The sophomore running back rushed four 98 yards on just five carries and scored two touchdowns in a 38-7 Dux win over Wyoming.

Connor Knapp, West Ottawa

The senior had eight catches for 130 yards in a game against Rockford.

Chris Foley, Saugatuck

Totaled nine tackles and one for a loss in a game against Schoolcraft.

Evan Abberger, Holland Christian

Maroons quarterback was 30-for-38 passing with four touchdowns and also had a rushing touchdown, including a touchdown pass and two-point conversion in the final seconds of a 43-42 win over Middleville.

Grant Petroelje, Hamilton

Quarterback rushed for two touchdowns and threw another touchdown pass in a win over Spring Lake.

Will Drnek, Zeeland East

Chix quarterback was 20-for-28 passing for 178 yards and a touchdown in a game against defending state champion Forest Hills Central.

Makai Weimer, Fennville

Blackhawks running back had seven carries for 123 yards and three touchdowns in a 56-20 win over Bangor as Fennville earned its third victory of the season.
