Deion Sanders and the Colorado football team continue to be must-see TV, even late at night when most of America is asleep.
The Buffaloes’ 31-28 loss to Kansas State in Week 7 earned 3.3 million viewers on ESPN despite a late (8:15 p.m. MT/10:15 p.m. ET) kickoff which Sanders called “stupid.”
Colorado’s loss to the Wildcats was its fifth-most watched game of the 2024 college football season and ESPN’s second-best Saturday late primetime game since 2012, peaking at 3.7 million viewers.
The Buffaloes’ 48-21 win over UCF in Week 5 earned 4.08 million viewers on FOX and their Week 4 win over Baylor in overtime drew 3.64 million viewers on FOX. Their Week 3 rivalry game vs. Colorado State earned a total of 3.2 million viewers on CBS.
A 28-10 loss to Nebraska in Week 2 was Colorado’s most-watched game of the season so far (6.3 million viewers). It was NBC’s most-watched Big Ten Saturday Night game (and the first to exceed five million viewers) since the series debuted in 2023.
The season-opening win vs. NDSU averaged 4.8 million viewers, peaking at 5.6 million, according to Front Office Sports. It was ESPN’s best Thursday opener since 2017 and up 49% over last year’s.
Every game the Buffs have played this season has been aired on national TV, and Week 8 will be no different. Sanders’ Colorado football team is back on the road this weekend to play Arizona on FOX.
Kickoff from Tucson will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. MT.
