Tennessee football calls for ‘Orange Out’ at Neyland Stadium for Alabama game

Tennessee football vs. Alabama is an “Orange Out,” UT announced Monday.

That means all fans are asked to wear orange when the No. 10 Vols (5-1, 2-1 SEC) host No. 7 Alabama (5-1, 2-1) on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC) at Neyland Stadium.

UT also did an “Orange Out” in 2022 when it beat Alabama 52-49 on a last-second field goal from Chase McGrath.

Tennessee hosts Alabama in the Third Saturday in October

The Vols are 1-2 against Alabama under coach Josh Heupel. The 2022 win marks the lone victory against the Crimson Tide since 2006.

Wide receiver Jalin Hyatt caught five touchdown passes from quarterback Hendon Hooker in the win, which ended when McGrath’s 40-yard field goal wobbled through the south goal posts. Fans flooded on to the field, smoked cigars and tore down the goal posts.

Tennessee lost 52-24 in 2021 in Heupel’s first game against Alabama. It lost 34-20 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in 2023.

The Crimson Tide won their first four games, including a dramatic 41-34 win against Georgia that vaulted them to the No. 1 ranking in the nation. It promptly lost it after being upset 40-35 at Vanderbilt.

Alabama edged South Carolina 27-25 before facing UT.
