Vote for Upstate’s top defensive player at 2024 high school football midseason

Here’s something for Upstate high school football fans to tackle.

Cast your votes for the area’s top defensive player at the halfway point of 2024 season. These are the top candidates, no more than one on any team, headed into Week 8 of the SCHSL regular season. Players are listed in alphabetical order. Multiple votes are allowed. The poll will close at 5 p.m. Friday. Cast your votes below.

Kentavion Anderson, Jr., Dorman: Anderson has 56 tackles, eight for loss, and also blocked a kick.

Ramani Bruton, Sr., J.L. Mann: Bruton is a shutdown cornerback who was named to the Shrine Bowl.

John Campbell, So., St. Joseph’s: Campbell has 57 tackles with an interception and two fumble recoveries.

Ty’keylan Campbell, Sr., Blue Ridge: Campbell has 41 tackles and two interceptions.

Spencer Conn, Sr., Daniel: Conn has made 51 tackles, 21 solo, with six tackles for loss.

Jaquavious Dodd, Sr., Eastside: Dodd, who was named to the Shrine Bowl, has six sacks and 10 quarterback hurries.

Jeremiah Favorite, Jr., Boiling Springs: Favorite has four interceptions, including one in the end zone and another returned for a TD.

Jaidyn Ferguson, Sr., Byrnes: Ferguson has six sacks and nine tackles for loss.

Trent Garner, Jr., Pendleton: Garner has 55 tackles, 37 solo, with eight sacks, three quarterback hurries and two forced fumbles.

Xeviel Gonzalez, Sr., Fountain Inn: Gonzalez has 38 tackles, four sacks, six tackles for loss and five quarterback hurries.

Shaun Graybill, Jr., Woodruff: Graybill has 59 tackles, including eight for loss.

Acie Hatfield, Sr., Christ Church: Hatfield has made 35 tackles, 28 solos, three for loss, with three passes defended and a forced fumble.

Evan Hruska, Jr., Mauldin: Hruska has 31 tackles, 3.5 for loss, one sack and two passes defended.

AJ Lindsey, Jr., Landrum: Lindley has 38 tackles, five for loss of yardage.
