Return of Alabama football WR Kendrick Law from injury can’t come too soon for UA | Goodbread

It looks like Alabama football will welcome Kendrick Law back to the lineup for Saturday’s border clash with Tennessee, and for the Crimson Tide, it comes none too soon. UA coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed Law is participating in practice this week and described him as “probable” to play against the Volunteers.

Despite limited production this season, Law’s presence in the lineup has proven to be highly important in DeBoer’s offensive system. He excels as a blocker, and his blocking assignments on a number of plays are every bit as crucial as any of UA’s offensive linemen. To whatever extent offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan wants to get the ball to open space on the perimeter, Law can be there for a key block, and has the play strength to wall off not only defensive backs but linebackers as well.

SWAPPING OUT: Why Jaeden Roberts, Geno VanDeMark split reps on Alabama football’s offensive line

He can help spring big plays in the running game, and is more of a playmaker himself than his season to date would indicate. He’s had just four offensive touches — two catches, two rushes — along with a 52-yard kick return against South Florida. Still, he’s an integral part of what Sheridan wants to do. If Alabama sustains a strong rushing attack against the Volunteers, expect Law to have something to do with it.

Law suffered a leg injury against Georgia, and hasn’t played since. Per DeBoer, the receiving corps is on track to get additional help from Kobe Prentice, who did not play against South Carolina last week, but is also probable for Saturday’s game.
