This Fort Collins football speedster is the Blue Federal Credit Union Athlete of the Week

This week’s Blue Federal Credit Union Athlete of the Week award is going the length of a football field with the winner.

Fort Collins football player Levi Hermsen took top honors in the Fort Collins area for Oct. 7-Oct. 12 after a huge game as a receiver and kickoff returner last week vs. Fairview.

Hermsen piled up a whopping 346 all-purpose yards, nearly 200 of them on kick returns. He also had 12 catches for 148 yards and two touchdowns, including a 50-yard score.

It’s the second straight week that the Lambkins’ senior topped 300 all-purpose yards with multiple TDs. He had 336 against Horizon on Homecoming, highlighted by a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown.

Fort Collins’ Levi Hermsen finds a hole in the defense and breaks free during a city rivalry high school football game on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024 at French Field in Fort Collins, Colo.

He has the second-most receiving yards in Colorado high school football (all classifications) with 722 through seven games. He also leads Class 5A with 700 kickoff return yards.

Hermsen, a Heritage Christian student who plays for Fort Collins since the Eagles don’t have a football team, is the second Lambkins player to win Athlete of the Week this season. He joins FCHS running back Jack McKeon, who won it for his three-touchdown first half against Poudre in September.
