Two key Longhorns land on SEC’s official injury report for Georgia at Texas

Texas Longhorns wide receiver Isaiah Bond (7) celebrates after scoring Texas’ first touchdown of the game during the first quarter of the Longhorns’ game against the UTSA Roadrunners at Darrell K RoyalÐTexas Memorial Stadium, Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024.

Each week, the SEC issues an official ‘Student-Athlete Availability Report‘ (aka Injury Report) on Wednesday evening each week. The conference also releases an update 90 minutes before kickoff.

The official injury report for Georgia at Texas is out. The notable Longhorns on the report are Derek Williams Jr. and Isaiah Bond. Both players were hurt against Oklahoma.

Williams suffered a season-ending knee injury against the Sooners. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian says the sophomore safety’s surgery is pending. “Derek will be out the remainder of the season,” Sarkisian said. “He’ll have surgery here in a couple weeks unfortunately.” Williams finished the OU game with four total tackles (all solo) a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. The DB missed the Louisiana-Monroe and Mississippi State games before returning against the Sooners.

Bond was also injured against OU. The speedy WR limped off the field in the first half at the Cotton Bowl with an ankle injury. After returning in the second half, Bond re-aggravated it. Sark’s update on the Alabama transfer was more positive. “(Bond) had a pretty good practice today (Wednesday),” Sarkisian said on a conference call with reporters.

Sark indicated Bond could be upgraded to ‘probable’ when the final injury report comes out Saturday.
