5-star DL Elijah Griffin commits to Georgia: Here’s the next recruit who could join him

Since arriving back in Athens, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has done nothing but land top-five class after top-five class. Some of the best five-star talent have built up the core of those classes to come out of the Peach State.

On Friday, the Bulldogs added another name to that list.

Savannah Christian Prep (Ga.) five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin announced his commitment to Georgia choosing the Bulldogs over Miami and USC. Griffin is the third in-state five-star defensive prospect to commit to Georgia, joining EDGE Isaiah Gibson and linebacker Zayden Walker.

Griffin ranks as the No. 4 player in the 2025 class according to 247Sports. He ranks as the No. 1 defensive lineman and No. 1 player out of Georgia. This 2025 group is defensive-heavy for the Bulldogs, and they’re likely not done when it comes to adding that group. The next major pledge for Georgia could come from another in-state five-star.

Manchester (Ga.) defensive lineman Justus Terry is trending towards Georgia by each of the four major recruiting outlets. A former USC pledge alongside Gibson, Terry decommitted from the Trojans on June 19.

Terry’s decision came just three days after Gibson decommitted from the Trojans. However, unlike Gibson, who committed to Georgia five days after his decommitment, Terry has taken his time with his decision— even if Georgia is viewed by most as the favorite.

He’s visited Georgia several times, but this weekend, he’ll get the chance to see the Bulldogs on the road in a hostile environment. Terry will be one of the many notable recruits in Austin as No. 1 Texas hosts Georgia on the national stage.

Landing pledges from Griffin and Terry could solidify the Bulldogs back into the mix as a top-three class this cycle. Their group currently ranks just outside of that with 23 commitments.
