5-star quarterback Jared Curtis decommits from Georgia, Clemson in the hunt

Decommitments have started to shake up the recruiting landscape, and even programs like Georgia are feeling the effects. Late Thursday, 5-star quarterback Jared Curtis, a top prospect from Nashville Christian (TN), announced he was reopening his recruitment and stepping away from his pledge to the Bulldogs.

In a statement, Curtis expressed appreciation for the Georgia staff but emphasized the importance of taking more time to explore his options. “I still have love for Georgia, but I want to make sure I take my time and make the best choice for my future,” Curtis said. He also noted it wouldn’t feel right to remain committed while looking at other schools.

Curtis, ranked as the No. 2 quarterback in the 2026 class, mentioned six schools currently standing out in his recruitment, including Clemson, South Carolina, Oregon, Ohio State, Alabama, and USC. Interestingly, Clemson has yet to offer Curtis, even though the Tigers already have two quarterbacks committed for 2026—Tait Reynolds and Brock Bradley.

Meanwhile, Clemson recently lost a quarterback commitment of its own when 2025 prospect Blake Hebert flipped to Notre Dame. Tigers head coach Dabo Swinney indicated the team is still looking to add to the position, making Curtis a name worth watching in the months ahead.

This is a golden opportunity for Clemson, who desperately needs a quarterback for the future. Cade Klubnik’s breakout has to be a good sign for recruits like Curtis.
