‘I admire Indiana’: Big Noon Kickoff crew can’t get enough of IU football

BLOOMINGTON — Former Florida and Ohio State coach Urban Meyer is in Bloomington this weekend as part of FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff.

The network’s flagship college football show will broadcast live outside Memorial Stadium on the South Lawn before Indiana football’s game against Nebraska on Saturday for the program’s first sell out since 2021. It’s only the second time they’ve visited Bloomington.

Meyer, who won three national titles during his coaching career, spent much of the week doing a deep dive into IU’s 6-0 start and had one clear take away from those film sessions.

“There’s times when I watch video and it’s really hard to watch,” Meyer said, after a rehearsal on Friday. “There’s other video I can’t shut it down — this was Indiana and a little bit of Nebraska defense.

“You just see incredible execution, you see minimal penalties, minimal turnovers and minimal mistakes, back shoulder throws, it’s the best edge blocking and perimeter blocking team I’ve seen all year. I admire well-coached teams and I admire Indiana.”

Indiana has the fourth-ranked offense in the country (515.7 yards per game) and sixth-ranked defense (255.7 yards per game). They have won all their games by double-digits and are one of only two teams in the country that has yet to trail in any game.

It’s only the second 6-0 start in program history.

Fellow analysts Brady Quinn and Matt Leinhart had similar praise for head coach Curt Cignetti and his staff. Quinn got to the rehearsal after conducting a sitdown interview with Cignetti that will air on Saturday.
