Look: Auburn football scores touchdown on its own punt vs Missouri

Sometimes the football just rolls your way.

Auburn football scored a touchdown on the road against Missouri on Saturday on a play where it punted. Missouri’s punt returner, star receiver Luther Burden III, fumbled the catch, which was recovered by sophomore Antonio Kite for a touchdown. The touchdown was either team’s first of the game, which gave the Tigers a 10-3 lead early in the third quarter.

The special teams play was the start of some nice momentum for Auburn, as Missouri answered with a field goal before quarterback Payton Thorne found Cam Coleman for a 47-yard touchdown to take a 17-6 lead.

Auburn (2-4, 0-3 SEC) is looking for its first SEC win of the season, as Hugh Freeze’s team is 0-3 in conference play against Arkansas, Oklahoma and Georgia.

A win over No. 19 Missouri (5-1, 1-1) would be a step in the right direction for Auburn, although Missouri is playing without starting quarterback Brady Cook who went down with an injury in the first quarter on Saturday.
