Michigan star CB Will Johnson suffers ankle injury vs. Illinois

Michigan football may have suffered another big injury setback.

All-American cornerback Will Johnson suffered an ankle injury Saturday in the first half against Illinois, according to the CBS broadcast. Johnson came out on Michigan’s first defensive possession and has yet to return.

Johnson missed one game this season against Minnesota and left the USC game early with a shoulder injury. He is a key cog to Michigan’s disruptive defense with lockdown coverage and has two interceptions, both returned for touchdowns, in five games. He is a projected top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL draft.
