Week 9 Roundup: Northmor takes its first league title since 1982, plus Elgin gets a win

IBERIA — Northmor made some history Friday night.

Not only did the Golden Knights (9-0, 6-0) clinch the Knox Morrow Athletic Conference championship, they won their first football league title since 1982 when competing in the defunct Mid Ohio Conference.

The latest crown happened after dispatching Morrow County rival Cardington 49-6 in Week 9.

Jax Wenger returned an interception 83 yards for a touchdown, plus added touchdown catches of 51 and 45 yards in the rout. He ended with four receptions for 127 yards. A.J. Bower was 7-for-10 passing for 171 yards and three touchdowns as Bo Landin added a 16-yarder. Carson Campbell scored three times and finished with 93 yards on 14 carries.

For Cardington (3-6, 1-5), Wyatt Denney ran it 29 times for 113 yards, He also made 11.5 tackles, as Christopher Kinsey had 9.5 tackles and Josh Goers eight tackles with two for loss. Journey Williamson had the lone touchdown on a 3-yard run for the Pirates.

Mount Gilead 43, Loudonville 0

Cam Vickers reached some milestones for Mount Gilead (3-6, 1-5) as he ran 22 times for 170 yards and a touchdown. He went over 1,000 yards for the season, while on defense he made his 100th tackle and 20th tackle for a loss.

Also for MG, Carson Barnum rushed for 73 yards and Eliot Jones for 50 yards including a 31-yard TD. Cole Fricke threw it just 4 times, but completed 3 for 96 yards and two touchdowns, while also running in another. Carson Trainer had a 46-yard TD catch and Wyatt Long a 20-yard TD grab plus a rushing touchdown.

Against Loudonville (0-9, 0-6), MG put together a 17-play, 99-yard scoring drive, then after a goal line stand, it went another 99 yards for a touchdown.
