After an uneven three seasons at Ohio State, Kyle McCord has made the most of a new opportunity at Syracuse and emerged as one of the most statistically decorated quarterbacks in the country.
In the eyes of some, his success may soon not be limited to Saturdays.
On Monday, three days before his team faces off against McCord and the Orange in a highly anticipated Thursday night matchup against No. 20 Pitt, Panthers coach Pat Narduzzi praised McCord as a future NFL quarterback.
“Kyle McCord is a tremendous football player,” Narduzzi said. “If you’re not a Pitt fan, if you’re not a Syracuse fan, but you’re a quarterback fan, you should get your tickets now because that guy’s going to play in the National Football League. We watched him on third down the other day. I don’t know if he throws an incomplete pass, especially on third and medium.”

After stepping in for C.J. Stroud as the Ohio State starter last season, McCord completed 65.8% of his passes for 3,170 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions while averaging 9.1 yards per attempt.
For the third season in a row, however, the Buckeyes lost to archrival Michigan, with McCord throwing a game-sealing interception on his team’s final drive.

After the season, McCord opted to transfer, despite The Dispatch reporting that he would have been the front-runner to start for Ryan Day’s team in 2024.
