FAMU football quarterback Daniel Richardson selected to play in the 2025 HBCU Legacy Bowl

Daniel Richardson has risen to instant stardom in his lone year as Florida A&M football’s starting quarterback.

And he’s being rewarded for it.

On Tuesday, the HBCU Legacy Bowl announced it selected Richardson for its fourth annual showcase game for draft-eligible football players at Black colleges. Richardson joins his teammate, cornerback Kendall Bohler, who will also participate in the HBCU Legacy Bowl.

The HBCU Legacy Bowl is on Feb. 22, 2025, at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans.

After passing for over 7,500 yards in his career, Richardson transferred to FAMU this season for his final year of college football eligibility after quarterbacking at Central Michigan and Florida Atlantic.

Richardson’s HBCU Legacy Bowl selection comes after playing just six games for the Rattlers, completing 122 of 182 passes (67 percent) for 1,431 yards and 12 touchdowns against four interceptions. The graduate student is amongst the top quarterbacks in multiple Football Championship Subdivision statistical categories.

Richardson’s signature performance is when he debuted for the Rattlers and won the MEAC/SWAC Challenge’s Most Valuable Player award after leading FAMU to a 24-23 comeback victory over Norfolk State. Richardson completed 22 of 30 of his passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns.
