Michigan basketball gets a highly-coveted foreign-born 2025 four-star forward

Michigan football might be in dire straits but Michigan basketball is on a tear — at least in the preseason.

New head coach Dusty May hit the ground running reassembling the Wolverines through both the transfer portal and recruiting and before the season has even started, top-tier talent is lining up to play for the first-year Michigan basketball coach.

May already got a solid pickup with four-star forward Winters Grady choosing the maize and blue despite being an Oregon native with an Oregon offer. But now May has gone abroad to bring in four-star Oscar Goodman, the No. 93 player in the country in 2025 who is originally from New Zealand.

Here is how Goodman ranks according to the recruiting services:

Goodman had offers from Michigan, Georgetown, Ohio State, and Texas Tech. He’s listed at 6-foot-7, 225 pounds and joins Grady as the second commit of the 2025 class. Now all eyes are on five-star Trey McKenney, who will make his college choice on Nov. 9.
