College analyst says UNC football program is more coveted than this SEC program

With five games left in the regular season, the North Carolina Tar Heels need to go 3-2 to get into a bowl game and salvage something from this disappointing season. The Tar Heels sit at 3-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play as it’s been a really tough year.

And that has also led to questions about the future of Mack Brown.

Following a big loss to James Madison there were rumblings that Brown was going to step down. Since that game, things have been quiet on that front but many believe this could be the final year for the legendary coach and a change is needed. If UNC does make this change, the job will be coveted per one college football analyst.

Pete Thamel was on  the ‘College GameDay Podcast’ with Rece Davis, discussing potential openings with Florida and North Carolina. And here is what Thamel said about UNC:

“People want that Carolina job, by the way,” Thamel interjected. “I almost think more coaches want the Carolina job than the Florida job.”

“Yeah, there’s a lot of upside there,” Rece Davis said in agreement.

That’s an interesting take from a national perspective. There’s a lot to like about the UNC job and honestly, it’s less pressure right away than Florida who is looking to get back to that championship standard.

The Tar Heels are also in the ACC which is usually a conference easier to win in than the SEC which is loaded with powers. It’s a good job to have despite some NIL questions that need to be addressed.
