Over the last few years, Jake Majors has been an anchor on the Longhorns’ offensive line. On Wednesday, he was recognized for his play and leadership off the field. The Texas native was selected as a 2024 William V. Campbell Trophy finalist. Each year, the award recognizes a player who is the best in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance, and exemplary leadership.
As Majors looks to help the Longhorns win a national title, he has a chance to join special company. He is the 13th player in program history to be nominated for the award. The only Longhorns players to win it are Dallas Griffin in 2007 and Sam Acho in 2010.
During his time in Austin, Majors has made 48 starts, the sixth most among offensive linemen in program history. This year, he has added a few accolades to his trophy case, including SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week honors following the Longhorns’ win over Michigan. Before the start of the 2024 campaign, he was placed on the Rimington Trophy watch list, which is given annually to the best center in the nation.
Although Majors has made headlines with his play, he has also made the most of his time in the classroom. The Prosper High School product is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection and was also named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Second Team.
With only five games left in the regular season, Majors will soon learn his fate. The Campbell Trophy finalists are set to be revealed on December 10 at the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner. As the Longhorns aim to make a deep playoff run, they also hope to have…
