Ball State football’s homecoming game on Saturday will also be the Battle for the Bronze Stalk against interstate rival Northern Illinois.

The Cardinals (2-5, 1-2 MAC) and Huskies (4-3, 1-2) have played for the Bronze Stalk Trophy every season since 2008. Ball State has won the last two and four of the last five, but NIU boasts an 11-5 record since the trophy’s introduction including 10 straight victories from 2009-18.

Ball State is coming off a 24-14 loss at Vanderbilt, while NIU suffered a 13-6 loss to Toledo at home in its last game. Both teams are looking to get to .500 in conference play with a win on Saturday.
