Four-star CB projects to flip again from UGA

Michigan defensive back DJ Turner (5) tackles Georgia wide receiver Kearis Jackson (10) during the first half of the Orange Bowl at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Fla. on Friday, Dec. 31, 2021.

Four-star cornerback recruit Shamari Earls is projected to flip his commitment from the Georgia Bulldogs to the Michigan Wolverines, per On3.

Earls is a 6-foot-2, 180-pound cornerback who plays at Thomas Dale High School in Chester, Virginia. The talented defensive back flipped to the Bulldogs in July from SEC rival South Carolina.

Now, Earls is expected to change his mind again. Earls is the ninth-ranked cornerback in the country and the top-ranked player in Virginia. The Thomas Dale standout is the No. 67 prospect in the nation.

Earls has starred in both football and track and field. The four-star plays both wide receiver and cornerback in high school. If he decommits, then it would hurt Georgia significantly. Earls is Georgia’s top cornerback commitment in the class of 2025.

In fact, Georgia has just two cornerback commitments in the 2025 cycle in Earls and four-star Jontae Gilbert. The Dawgs would have to look to add another cornerback or two to their signing class before the early signing period. UGA currently has the No. 3 recruiting class in the nation.
