Kent State football | Golden Flashes struggle from start in loss at Western Michigan

Western Michigan scored the game’s first 38 points and coasted to an easy 52-21 win over visiting Kent State in a Mid-American Conference game Saturday.

The Broncos scored five touchdowns and kicked a field goal before the Golden Flashes (0-8, 0-4) got on the board with an 18-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tommy Ulatowski to wide receiver Luke Floriea 13 seconds before halftime. It was 45-7 through three quarters before Ulatowski threw two more TDs in the fourth quarter.

Ulatowski finished 12-of-24 passing for 114 yards, three TDs and two interceptions. Floriea was the top receiver with three catches for 43 yards, and Ky Thomas ran for a team-best 62 yards on 15 carries.

Western Michigan (5-3, 4-0) rolled up a 579-250 advantage in total yards, including 358-136 on the ground.
