VOTE: Gastonia, Shelby nominees for Week 10 high school football player, team of the week

Following a busy Week 10 of high school football in Cleveland, Gaston and Lincoln counties, here’s your opportunity to get in on the action.

Vote for who you believe was tri-county football’s top player and team from Week 10.

Player of the week nominations are compiled courtesy of information obtained by The Gaston Gazette and Shelby Star by coaches, athletic directors or team statisticians through emails, MaxPreps, game results and highlights posted to social media. If a top performer’s name doesn’t appear on the list, encourage their coach to email submissions to [email protected] or [email protected].

BIG GAMES, BIG NUMBERS: Gastonia, Shelby area high school football: Week 10 game balls, top performers

Team of the Week nominees

Crest: thumped Hunter Huss, 35-6.

Kings Mountain: earned a hard-fought win over Ashbrook, 27-19.

Lincolnton: earned a come-from-behind win over Maiden, 20-19.

North Gaston: defeated Stuart Cramer, 21-7.

Shelby: defeated East Gaston, 55-22.

Player of the week nominees

Gideon Allen, West Lincoln: Rushed for 100 yards on 14 carries. He also had five tackles (two for a loss), a forced fumble and an interception.

Aiden Carson, Crest: Rushed for 200 yards on 20 carries and two touchdown runs in a 35-6 win over Hunter Huss.Eric Forston, South Point: Ran for two touchdowns.

Eric Forston, South Point: Ran for two touchdowns.

Tyler Morgan, Shelby: Caught two touchdown passes.

Justice Washington, Mountain Island Charter: Caught seven passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

William Vaughn, Kings Mountain: Caught five passes for 216 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown.
