The No. 1 ranked Oregon Ducks faced a big test on Saturday in Week 9, hosting the No. 20 Illinois Fighting Illini in a top-25 Big Ten matchup that would hold major ramifications for the Big Ten Championship Game and a potential spot in the College Football Playoff.
Oregon made the most of their opportunity, blowing out the Illini 38-9 in a game that was more lopsided than the final score would suggest. The offense was explosive and physical, the defense was suffocating, and in all, it was a game that left little to be desired from an improvement standpoint.
But was it a game that shifted the national championship betting odds?
Surprisingly, not as much as you may have expected. A pair of teams remain ahead of the Ducks in terms of the odds, with the Georgia Bulldogs +325, and the Ohio State Buckeyes — whom Oregon beat — listed at +450 to win at all. Meanwhile, Oregon is listed at +500, according to BetMGM.

The odds will undoubtedly shift again next week, as both Ohio State and Penn State get set to clash in one of the biggest Big Ten games of the year.
Meanwhile, the Ducks will go on the road for one of their biggest away games of the year, traveling to Ann Arbor to play the Michigan Wolverines in The Big House. Michigan is struggling this season after winning the national championship in 2023, but Michigan Stadium is one of the toughest places to play in all of college football, so it will certainly be a test.
