The big game in the SEC in Week 9 was Texas A&M vs LSU for sole possession of first place in the SEC rankings. After a rough start to the game, the Aggies stole the momentum after an interception led to a touchdown run by Marcel Reed.
A&M moved to 5-0 in the SEC after its 38-23 win over the weekend, which placed it No. 10 in the AP Top 25 Polls. Texas kept pace with the rest of the one-conference loss teams, beating Vanderbilt 27-24 to move to 3-1 on league play. The top half of the league is still in a tight contest and there is no guaranteed win in the SEC with around 5 weeks left.
Wins will be critical as these are the weeks when teams start falling out of conference and playoff contention. A&M more than anyone controls their destiny and doesn’t have to win out, but they need to win the next three of four games to feel comfortable for a postseason spot in the college football playoffs.
