After dropping two games in the span of three weeks, the Alabama Crimson Tide massively revived their Playoff hopes by pitching a 34-0 shutout victory against No. 21-ranked Missouri. It was a dominant victory on both sides of the ball as Alabama now enters a much-needed bye before traveling to LSU in a Playoff elimination game.
Kane Wommack and the Tide defense are starting to fight a rhythm, as they allowed just 239 yards of offense, with only 72 coming through the air. The Alabama defense was outstanding on third down, allowing only three conversions on 13 attempts and forcing three turnovers.
The offense was also finally able to run the ball at will, with 37 carries for 271 yards and four touchdowns. From a statistical standpoint, it was one of Milroe’s quieter games, but it was good to see the whole offense get involved.
With just four games remaining in the season, Alabama’s Playoff hopes are very much alive. However, they will have to pick up road wins against LSU and Oklahoma to get there.
If the Playoff selection show were today, Andy Staples of On3 Sports projects Alabama to be one of the ‘First Four’ teams out alongside Tennessee, Iowa State and Pittsburgh. He predicts Georgia, Texas and Texas A&M as the SEC’s only qualifiers.
