Georgia football loses five-star freshman to season-ending injury

Georgia football has lost a freshman contributor to a season-ending injury.

Defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye is out for the season with what coach Kirby Smart Tuesday night called a “lower extremity injury.”

Jonah-Ajonye has played in four games so he will be able to take a redshirt year. He had one tackle and two quarterback pressures this season.

Jonah-Ajonye did not accompany the team to Texas.

“He already had the surgery,” Smart said.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound Shenandoah, Texas native was a five-star prospect.

The No. 2 Bulldogs are preparing to play Florida Saturday in Jacksonville.
