Explaining the selection process for the Rate Bowl in the new world of college football

College football is an ever-changing landscape, and this year will arguably see the most change in one season as the playoffs expand to 12 teams. The implications of this can be seen far and wide, including here for the Valley’s two bowls, the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl and the Rate Bowl.

What is it contingent on?

There must be a two-game difference in the win-loss record.

Must have not played each other in the regular season.

No repeat participants.

Big Ten must have five…
