The Auburn Tigers (3-5) finally found the win column in conference play last week after an eruption of offensive yardage on the road against Kentucky. Hugh Freeze’s squad was able to outscore the Wildcats 24-0 over the final three quarters of the game, creating some much needed momentum heading into the final stretch of the season. Auburn returns home this week to host a familiar opponent, as well as familiar opposing quarterback, in Diego Pavia and the Vanderbilt Commodores. While the Tigers have won 15 of their last 17 matchups against the perennial worst team in the SEC, this year’s Vanderbilt team is not your average group of Commodores. Diego Pavia and company are a game away from bowl eligibility with a win over top-ranked Alabama and narrow losses to Texas and Missouri on the schedule.
Despite Vanderbilt coming to the Plains with a (5-3) record, the Commodores are 7.5-point underdogs in the contest according to BetMGM. Here are five ways the Commodores make themselves bowl eligible by pulling off an upset on Saturday.
